How painful is the post-surgery?

The FUE hair transplant method patients experience minimal discomfort and are given pain medication if necessary. The area heals very quickly and the risk of infection is very low compared to the FUT strip technique.

Are the results permanent?

Since the hair follicles that are transplanted to the balding areas are genetically resistant to going bald, they will continue to grow for a life time.

Will my hair transplant results look completely natural?

Hair transplantation done right by a skilled surgeon can be so natural that even your hair stylist will not know that you've had it done.

Will I be awake during surgery?

We use local anesthesia and so you will be awake the entire time – watching TV, or listening to music. Some patients simply chose to relax or even take a nap.

Do I need to shave my head for the procedure?

Many celebrities in the spotlight opt for a non-shaved session as it is easier to conceal the procedure post operatively. But a shaved session is less time consuming and less labor-intensive. It can yield more grafts and is thus relatively cheaper as a result.

When will my hair start growing after getting a hair transplant?

Grafts start to re-establish their blood supply within hours after being placed in the new area. A week or two after crusting occurs on the scalp, the visible hair shafts shed. Many patients fear they are losing the grafts, but actually this is a temporary and reversible process known as “shock loss.” Growth (under the skin) starts 3-4 months after surgery. Visible growth takes about 6 months. Full growth takes a year, and sometimes up to 18 months in certain cases!

Does the FUE hair transplant method have any limitations?

No. There is no pulling or stretching the scalp in the FUE method (FUE). The FUT technique has limitations because of lack of scalp laxity produced by the extraction of sections of skin from the scalp.

Is there more than one donor area?

Yes, the FUE extraction method can avail of a larger donor area, the neck and sides of the head. There is also the possibility of extracting body hair from the chest and legs. The FUT strip technique is more limited as it can only use the back of the head as donor area.

Will I need more than one hair transplant?

Factors such as age and the progression of hair loss determines this. But it may take many years between each other. The need for additional procedures will also be determined by the quality of the hair transplant performed.
